TURKONFED Combats Youth Unemployment with 40.000 Member Corporations

The final conference of “Youth Employment at the Work Life Through Long-Term Employability Skills – WORTH Project”, which is a project that brings 5 countries including Turkey together under the general coordinatorship of TURKONFED, was held in Istanbul. 8 corporations from 5 countries; Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, and Greece, collaborated under the Worth Project. While reports and learning contents are being prepared, TURKONFED with its 40.000 member-structure will start the implementation phase following the reports and policy advices on youth unemployment after the finalization of the project.

16 January 2019 / İstanbul – The  final conference of “Youth Employment at the Work Life Through Long-Term Employability Skills – WORTH Project”, which was launched in February 2017 under the general coordinatorship of Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TURKONFED) and with the support of Erasmus+ Program, was hosted by Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul.

 

Aiming to combat against youth unemployment, to prepare the youth for future professions and increase their skills and competences, the Worth Project brings 8 corporations from 5 countries; Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain and Greece. The opening speeches of the final conference were delivered by Bahçeşehir University Entrepreneurship Operations and Incubaition Center Manager Hatice Tuğsavul, Genç Başarı Vakfı Chairman Çelik Ören, TURKONFED Board Member İrem Oral Kayacık and TURKONFED Board Member Yiğit Savcı. During the conference, Faculty Member of the Bahçeşehir University Dr. Serkan Yeşilyurt made a presentation entitled Project Deliverables, Content Preparations and E-Learning Platform.

 

A report was prepared alongside survey studies where the youth and employers were asked about the need and required skills for youth employment. A current situation analysis was also included in the report. Training programs were developed and skill sets were prepared in line with the results of workshops held in 5 partner countries. Within the scope of the project online courses were carried out. Learning contents, such as Leadership, Risk Management, Self-Confidence, Communication, Presentation Techniques, and Planning and Decision-making were identified. Following the final conference of the 24-month-long project TURKONFED with its 40.000 member-corporations structure will start the implementation phase under the guidelines of the reports and policy advices on youth unemployment.
