In the second half of the 1990s, Industrialists and Businessmen Associations (SİAD) from different corners of the country sought to unite their forces. The SİAD movement held its first summit on October 17, 1997 in Istanbul, hosted by TÜSİAD.
Participating SİADs defined their goals as "Making the voice of industrialists and businessmen spread across the country heard by the public, parliament and governments, and producing projects that will contribute to national and regional development."
At the 4th SİAD Summit in Şanlıurfa on November 17, 2000, the SİADs named this partnership: Turkey SİAD Platform. The platform formed the network, solidarity and cooperation ground for independent business associations working actively in their regions.
On November 4, 2004, the Enterprise and Business Confederation was founded. The founding members were BASİFED, DASİFED, DOGÜNSİFED, İÇASİFED, MAKSİFED and SEDEFED. On April 14, 2005, the confederation officially adopted the "Türk" name, becoming "Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation" - TÜRKONFED.
